Geico Cavemen=Emergent Mascot?
Doug Pagitt humorously suggests that the Geico Cavemen should be the Emergent mascot since, like us Emergent types, they tend to get a lot of mean-spirited and nasty criticism from others who don't really understand.

did you know that they're talking about making a sitcom series about the cavemen from those commercials?

Mike,
Having gone back and looked at friendlyatheist.com I saw that you said you appreciate Helen, Siamang Karen and Hemant for their attempts. Is it easier for you to talk with people that are passive? I don't know if passive is the right word but that's how perceive them.

txatheist,
You think that Helen, Siamang, Karen and Hemant are passive? What do you mean by passive? They're patient, polite and respectful, but "passive" doesn't come up for me when I think of them. If you're not sure if that is the right word, maybe you should talk to them about it. I think if you called them passive they would patiently, politely and respectfully jump on your neck and kick your ass.

Just my patient, polite and respectful opinion.

Hey TX,

Don't keep taking offense that I don't always list you when I compliment the atheists I've enjoyed hanging out with and learned from. You're definitely one of them. I just can't always list everyone,

However, you're right that you can tend to be a little more "confrontational" than some of these others. There have been times when you've come across to me as more "anti-theist" than just "a-theist". Truthfully though, you've gotten way better at that than when I first "met" you online. You've stopped trying to deliberately push theist's buttons so much, and I appreciate that.

I don't know what else to tell you though. I don't want you to stop being yourself. You're going to have to decide for yourself how much you want to be known as a "confrontational" atheist versus someone that is easier to dialogue with.

Peace friend.

Hey Drew,

I did hear about that sitcom. I hope they do it. I'd watch! I think those commercials are hilarious.

Mike,
I love the Geico Cavemen. The white wine, the piano playing jazz in the modern home, ordering duck with mango salsa. Atheists feel the same way they do, but since you thought of it first, yes use them as your mascot.

What I especially like about the Geico Cavement is that for the most part they are patient, polite and respectful,

BUT THEY'RE NOT PASSIVE!

Mike,
Thanks, I just appreciate your opinion and look for your honest opinion. When someone has my respect I tend to ask even when it doesn't seem there should be a reason. I would listen to you if you said something I had to contemplate about my methods.

Thanks for the point about being less confrontational/more anti- than a-theist. Thanks constructive criticism and since it's coming from you I take it to heart.

Me stop being confrontational? LOL I think we both know that ain't gonna happen. You should have seen Jim H laugh and I said something about me always being confrontational.
