We Bought a House!
We signed a contract on a house in Yorkville yesterday! After several weeks of looking and considering whether to buy an existing home or new construction we put an offer on a 15-year old 3 bedroom ranch right in Yorkville.

As we were looking at houses we kept asking ourselves if they would enable us to do the kind of community building ministry we wanted to do with this new church plant. Well, this house is exactly what we've been looking for in terms of the kind of ministry we want to do with it. It has a large, square living room that is perfect for church meetings, and has a finished basement family room where the kids can hang out during meetings. It's got a big yard for neighborhood barbeques, and several guest bedrooms for us to have people over or to even house church interns or friends in need of a place to stay for a while. The basement also has a small, finished room that would be perfect as the church office for the first few years of the church plant. It's exactly what we wanted and it's in our price range.

Since we have some help with the down payment we don't necessarily have to sell our current condo either, so we're actually talking about renting it out. So, if anyone reading this knows someone in the west suburbs of Chicago looking for a 2-bedroom condo right off of I-88, tell them to call or email us.

We close on the house September 9th, so we'll probably be moving September 17 or there abouts. Once we get settled we'll have a party for y'all to come see the new place! We're just so excited to get out to Yorkville so we can start meeting people and getting to know the community as we look forward to planting this church.

Here are a few pictures of the house:

The large living room, perfect for church gatherings.

The dining room, connected to the living room. We'll probably keep the color.

The kitchen. Somewhat narrow, but big enough for us.

The family room in the basement, great for a kids hang-out area during church meetings.

A beautiful, back-yard garden. (It's a corner lot, so the side-yard is bigger - a perfect size for playing soccer or football.)
