Pastors & Prophets
Check out this excellent post by Skye Jethani at the Out of Ur blog about why it's so hard for pastors to speak with a prophetic voice, and why so few pastors seem to have this gift (main reason: when you're dependent on your church for your income it's hard to rock the boat too much).
I'm definitely more of a prophet type myself, which is probably why we didn't more than a couple of years at our last church. It remains to be seen what will become of our church started by a prophetic type. I sometimes have to remind myself that my messages can't all be challenging. Sometimes it's good to have some encouraging ones too. :)
