This past weekend I had the opportunity to preach at my parent's
church in Hillsdale, Michigan. They are supporting our church plant in Yorkville and wanted me to speak on the qualities of a church that would reproduce itself, since they are thinking about possibly planting a daughter church of their own in a nearby town in the near future. I decided to speak on what it means to be a missional church and on the difference between an individualistic, self-centered gospel (i.e. believe in Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour so you can go to Heaven when you die) and Jesus's gospel of the Kingdom of God.
If you'd like to read the full text of the sermon you can download it

I used to live a mile away from that church in Hillsdale when I was ministering in a nearby town. In fact, a former senior pastor there - Sterling Demond - was my senior pastor before coming there. He didn't stay there long, though.

I'm still trying to figure out how the file hosting at Yahoo works, so if the sermon doesn't load for you bear with me. I'll try to fix it as soon as I can. Keep trying back.
