More than Birth & Death
Bill Sloat had an excellent post over at the EmergingCGGC blog about having a fuller understanding of Christ's incarnation than just that he "came to die". He suggests that we need to equally balance both Christ's life and death in our understanding of why Jesus came to earth. In this he reminds me of Dallas Willard's complaint that evangelical theologies that focus so exclusively on the cross tend to produce "vampire Christians who want Jesus for his blood and little else."

In all, it's an excellent little Christmas reflection. Check it out here.

This EC thing is such a heresy. The cross of Christ is not an evangelical church issue. The APOSTOL PAUL clearly stated it:

For the message of the cross is foolishness to "those who are perishing" (EC), but to us who are being saved it is the power of God (Fundamentalist-prooftext-bible-believing-Chrsitians). 19 For it is written:

“ I will destroy the wisdom of the wise,
And bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.”[a]

Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom; but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks[b] foolishness, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

wow talk about heresies...
So the APOSTOL (what is that anyway) Paul clearly talks about the emerging church and fundamentalists... I bet he spoke King James English as well.

This is getting more and more entertaining by the day. Thanks for the laughs, but if you really wanted to make a valid arguement you might want to say something thoughtful one of these times.

You guys just don't get it... If you IGNORE the ABSOLUTE truths in the Bible, like the cross... It's like flying a plane (Your life) into a thunderstorm without flight instruments (the Bible), YOU WILL CRASH AND BURN! Please go to the following website to learn how you can be saved.

Julie,

EC is a falling house of cards with no ABSOLUTE foundation. Everything is relative to the culture... The EC was added by me for emphasis. The Fundamentalist-prooftext-bible-believing-Chrsitians, are those who accept God's ABSOLUTE truth of the BIBLE, and have decided to live by it, even if they have to suffer to change things they still have to overcome. What Bible do you read?
