Chant Down the Walls
Here are more thoughts on war and how it is really just part of the larger systems of oppression and violence and greed that the Bible refers to as "Babylon" and which have been attempting to rule the world for millennia. This is a song by folk-singer/Jesus Radical Jes Karper that calls us to chant down the walls of these oppressive systems and replace them with the eschatological hope of the New Jerusalem, which is a world of peace and inclusion and joyful celebration. You can listen to the song here, and read the lyrics below:

chant down the walls - jes karper

every war is a jihad
but we’re fighting over false gods
point to the one who made you
and you will find that this one made all of your enemies too
it's only you who made them enemies
when you blindfolded yourself with all these hypocrisies
So go chant down the walls of the babylon system
and build up the new Jerusalem
chant down the walls of the babylon system
and build up the new Jerusalem

stop this segregation, its useless separation
its the new world order looking for its global domination
its sodom and gomorra have now spread across the land
but like these ancient cities all will crumble to the sand
So go chant down the walls of the babylon system
and build up the new Jerusalem
chant down the walls of the babylon system
and build up the new Jerusalem

shadrack, meshack and abendigo
they chant into the fire and they never get burned no
joshua leveled the gold walls of jericho
with no weapons, no weapons, so come on let go and
chant down the walls of the babylon system
and build up the new Jerusalem
chant down the walls of the babylon system
and build up the new Jerusalem

Said the new Jerusalem is no excluding institution
the pearly gates are wide open every body's welcome
to chant down the walls of the babylon system
and build up the new Jerusalem
chant down the walls of the babylon system
and build up the new Jerusalem

no need for guns or bombs as ammunition
there’s no need to form any politician coalition
we'll just stand up, dance up, chant up til they listen
then we'll sing out that the system will no longer will be building
cause we chant down the walls of the babylon system
and build up the new Jerusalem

Hey Mike,

A bit off topic but did you see Chuck Colson's slam on the "Emerging Church?"

Colson also dismissed a burgeoning movement known as "the emergent church" _ popular among younger Baptists and other evangelicals _ as "abandoning the search for truth" in favor of "conversations in coffee shops."
