10-20-30 Meme
Helen tagged me to do the 10-20-30 Meme. I'm supposed to say what I was doing 10, 20, and 30 years ago:

10 years ago I was a sophomore at Wheaton College. In fact, right around this time I would have been hosting the VeggieTales Room on my dorm floor party "Cornucopia". (We wanted to do a replay of Freshman year's "Root Beer Kegger" but our RA thought it was "inappropriate"... yeah, Wheaton's that conservative.) This is also one of the first times Julie remembers meeting me, when she came into my room at the party. Unfortunately I don't recall talking to her that night, though I already knew who she was. At the time I was desperately trying to get into the inner circles of a clique of friends that weren't really taking applications for any more additions to their inner ring. It took me a few more months to give up and just form my own circle of friends. A few months after that I started hanging out with Julie, and by the end of sophomore year we were dating. It was also around this time that I decided to major in Philosophy.

20 years ago I was 8 going on 9, living in Toledo, OH where my dad worked as a restaurant manager at Sweden House Buffet. I was in 3rd grade at Emmanuel Baptist Christian School where my teacher, Mrs. Brake, did not know how to handle a kid who was so bright that he got bored in class, and I ended up spending a lot of time in the principal's office (where corporal punishment was still allowed). I collected baseball cards, was a huge Detroit Tigers fan, liked riding my bike around my neighborhood with my best friend Ryan Nutter, read a ton of books, and had a very active imagination (I fought World War III in my head repeatedly as a kid.) I think I went as the Dread Pirate Roberts from The Princess Bride that year for Halloween.

30 years ago I didn't exist yet.

I don't like tagging people for these things, but if you want to play consider yourself tagged by me.

30 years ago you didn't exist?

I think this virus/meme was started by someone as young as you who wanted the rest of us to feel old :)

So you got punished for being smart in school...that sucks.

I got in trouble with some teachers from time to time for noticing they got things wrong and telling them. But I never attended anywhere with corporal punishment, happily.
