Who are you and what have you done with our President?
First Bush admits responsibility for the disastrous federal response after Katrina, then he gives a speech in New Orleans that actually recognizes the existence of structural poverty in our cities and shows real concern for wanting to do something about it, and now Bush is actually
urging people to drive less and conserve gas. It's like he's been secretly abducted and replaced by some new, more socially concerned and ethically responsible version of himself. Or maybe Katrina finally just shocked him into remembering his campaign promises back in 2000 to be a "compassionate conservative". It remains to be seen whether this will fall in the "too little, too late" category.
