Dining with Desert Pastor
Last night Julie and I had the pleasure of dining with a long time online friend. We first "met" Chris Monroe, aka Desert Pastor, at theOoze over three years ago. I've always appreciated his perspectives and have enjoyed reading his blog, Paradoxology, over the years. We had an excellent dinner at P.F. Changs and even better conversation last night with the Desert Pastor (so named because he leads a Free Methodist congregation out in Barstow California).

Chris is in town for the Ancient Evangelical Future Conference at Northern Seminary in Lombard, IL (just down the road from where we used to live in Wheaton). The conference highlights a document created by Dr. Bob Webber and Dr. Phil Kenyon, entitled A Call to an Ancient Evangelical Future, and features such speakers as Brian McLaren, Frederica Mathews-Green, Lauren Winner, Martin Marty and Aaron Flores.

The conference organizers actually asked Chris to be their "live blogger" during the event, so you can read about the conference in real time at Chris's blog.
