Up North
This blog has been a little quieter this week because I'm up at my family's cottage in northern Michigan near Traverse City. We've taken Emma to the beaches at Lake Michigan twice, gone for hikes in our Hundred Acre Woods, and climbed the Sleeping Bear Dunes. Right now we're in Glen Arbor shopping at the Cherry Republic ("Life Liberty, Beaches & Pie") and other fun shops. This whole area is one of my most favorite places on earth. We've been coming here since I was a little kid and there are so many great memories. It's so much fun to be able to share it all with Emma now and see her delight in the same things that I loved as a kid.

How long are you going to be up there?

I remember that cottage well. Lots of fun times - especially the treehouse.

Hey Michael,

We're back now. And unfortunately the tree house is long gone. It rotted away a decade or so ago, and last summer Christy's husband took out the branch it sat on with a moving truck that was too tall, so I guess we won't be rebuilding it for the next generation. :(
